XDAS FX-Series – Modular Host Design

Based on your needs and budget, select from 8Gb/s or 16Gb/s Fibre Channel, 1Gb/s or 10Gb/s iSCSI (either SFP+ or RJ-45), or 12Gb/s or 6Gb/s SAS host interfaces. The wide choices allows for great flexiblity in this product line. A company on a budget can start off with cheaper gigabit technology and later when they are able to afford faster technology they can swap modules for Fibre or 10G iSCSI. Host interface modules can be easily swapped and upgraded, making the new XDAS FX more future-proof than any of our prior DAS products.

Hybrid Storage Consolidated SAN-Tiers with Powerful ScalabilityThe new XDAS FX-Series Hybrid model features both modular host ports and four 1GbE iSCSI host ports per controller. This combination enables SMBs to deploy FC SANs delivering outstanding price-performance and achieve highly cost-effective remote replication with the iSCSI ports. The enterprise-class data protection and exceptional performance of the XDAS FX-Series Hybrid powered by the next-generation RAID engine is ideal for mission-critical environments. When data grows out of the capacity threshold of a single subsystem, you can scale it up to an installation housing more than one hundred drives through expansion enclosures. The no-delay, smooth operations it enables can satisfactorily meet the service levels your business requires. Coupled with the broad support for enterprise-level OS and server virtualization, it can serve as data storage for top-tier applications.

High Speed Performance and Flexible Scalability

Discover new standards of storage performance with up to 1.3M IOPs and 5,500 Mbps throughput. XDAS FX systems are excellent platforms for database and VDI applications thanks to ample computing power, and their massive bandwidth serves to enhance media editing and surveying jobs, freeing you from bottlenecks. When looking to expand storage, up to an extra 360 drives can be connected easily using appropriate JBOD enclosures. You get access to as much as 1,440TB space, with each drive up to 4TB in size. (all-cache-hit).

High-Availability SAN Delivers Great Price/PerformanceData availability is critical to any business operation. XDAS FX-Series features high availability hardware design with redundant, hot-swappable components, such as RAID controllers, power supplies and cooling fans, to eliminate single point of failure. RAID protection ensures data accessibility during drive failure. In the event of a power outage, CacheSafe technology will automatically leverage power of the Battery Backup Unit (BBU) to safeguard cached data by writing it to the flash module for permanent retention.

Intuitive and Easy ManagementStorage management should be simple. The XDAS FX-Series storage solution includes a comprehensive management software suite, SANWatch, to centrally manage multiple D-Series subsystems over a standard TCP/IP network. Status and event information summary can be viewed on the portal window. Necessary functions to configure, manage and monitor the D-Series are only a few clicks away. Besides providing all firmware features through a user-friendly GUI, SANWatch also supports script-based configuration of multiple XDAS subsystems simultaneously. Automatic critical event notifications can be customized to suit the most critical storage environment. SANWatch will guide users through initializing, configuring and maintaining the system every step of the way.

SSD Cache

SSD Cache leverages the high speed and low latency of solid state drives in delivering faster read performance where it counts most – in high demand, vital data that must be accessed frequently. The feature helps users to better cope with high I/O loads and growing storage capacity requirements while dramatically boosting performance. SSD Cache presents particularly attractive advantages in read traffic-intensive environments, for example online transaction processing (OLTP) and email (Microsoft Exchange).

Proprietary SSD Cache technology allows up to four SSDs per controller to be used as a high speed cache, with sizes of up to 3.2TB. This large cache capacity offers ample room for essential data and applications, which can be allocated to the SSD Cache pool. In terms of IOPS,  SSD Cache runs up to 16 times faster than systems without SSD Cache in tests, and further reduces response time by as much as 88% in the same test.

Local Replication

In business-critical environments, users require strong protection for their valuable data sets. To help users protect data in the most efficient way, local replication leverages the power of XDAS storage systems to provide snapshot and volume copy/mirror capabilities. With space-saving snapshot copies, users can easily restore files or rollback data as necessary. With the full data copies, users can quickly restore service when a RAID-protected volume fatally fails.

Remote Replication Option

Remote replication leverages the power of storage systems to copy data between storage pools or systems in IP or FC SAN at different sites. When source data fails due to system malfunction or accidents, users can leverage the disk-based remote copy to restart service in minutes. If users would like to transfer responsibility back to the source, it can be quickly synced with the remote copy for only differentials. To further ensure the integrity of the remote data, remote replication allows users to protect the remote copy with snapshot technology. Granular snapshot images can help restore the corrupt remote copy in seconds when it is required to resume business service.

Automated Storage Tiering

By enabling users to flexibly assign applications to four available tiers distinguished by different drive types and RAID levels, automated storage tiering provides an architecture that fully leverages the advantages of different storage media, including SSDs for high-performance data storage. With automated storage tiering, users can greatly optimize storage performance and increase ROI. As part of automated storage tiering, data is migrated between tiers based on data usage patterns and user-configured policies. With tiering implemented on the sub-volume level, data can be moved in a highly granular fashion. Data migration achieves efficient distribution of data, and ensures that SSDs and other high-performance drives have the necessary storage space to deal with mission-critical applications.
