100TB Server - Big Just Got Bigger:
Aberdeen Qualifies 2TB Drives - Doubling Storage Capacities

California, August 3, 2009: Aberdeen LLC unveils the 100TB AberNAS server
with VMware Certification, featuring the 2TB hard drive. With its
qualification of the new 2 terabyte fully enterprise rated SATA drives,
Aberdeen LLC retains its position as an industry leader in providing a
complete array of scalable custom servers and storage. The Stirling X888
will be on display at the Siggraph Exhibition and Conference at the New
Orleans Convention Center in booth #3307, August 4-6, 2009.
Aberdeen is primed to take advantage of the much anticipated, world's
first enterprise level 2TB hard drive. With units already implemented by
select qualified customers, Aberdeen now rolls out a complete product
matrix of 2TB ready servers and storage. Servers based on the 2TB drives
are available today, from small 24TB RAID storage array servers up to
the 100TB Stirling X888, with instant scalability well above ½ petabyte
(500TB).

By virtue of laboratory testing, Aberdeen RAID storage servers outfitted
with the WD RE4-GP 2TB drives demonstrated significant speed
improvements when compared to 15K SAS drives. When compared in a typical
RAID 5 storage environment, IOmeter file server benchmark testing
resulted in 15% Seq. Read performance and 58% Seq. Write performance
increases for the 2TB drives versus 15k SAS drives.
Aberdeen leverages the storage performance benefits of the eco-friendly
enterprise level 2TB drives by integrating them into its complete line of
servers and storage. This prompt move to embrace density-efficient drives is
exemplified with Aberdeen’s breadth of 2TB drive optimized storage offerings.
Entry-level, single processor servers ranging from the VMware Certified 12TB
Stirling 209 server starting under $4000 to the 8TB AberNAS 160 Series starting
under $5,000 in a 1U form factor are currently shipping. As for larger capacity
servers Aberdeen offers the highly dense 24TB VMware Certified 2U expandable
AberNAS with a sub $10k price point up to the dual Intel Xeon 5500 Series
processor based enterprise-level servers able to deliver nearly unlimited
storage scalability.
