The custom configurable "Stirling
X840"
rackmount server features the
Multi-Core Intel® Xeon® processors utilizing the Intel
5000P (Blackford) chipset. Configurable
as a Dual-Core (Dempsey)
5000 Series processor, offering a new low price point,
lower power consumption or the higher performance (Woodcrest) 5100
Series processors. The performance optimized Quad-Core Intel® Xeon®
(Clovertown) processor 5300 series, based on the
new Intel Core Microarchitecture, yields
another 40% more performance in the same server platform and will only
consume a maximum of 65 watts.
New advancements and features to the Quad-Core Intel
Xeon Processor include; 65nm fabrication, 2MB L2
cache per core, up to 1333 MHz FSB system,
and lower power consumption
to the storage server market. By utilizing the 3Gb/s
SATA II disk drives this Stirling storage server
can provide 800MB/S internal transfer speeds via the best
RAID controller on the market without RAID array limitations.
This is a vast improvement over the archaic
IDE disk drives and the
over-priced SCSI drives.
Included are 40
hot-swap/hot-spare drive bays with storage capacity up
to 40 terabytes of SATA-II
3Gb/s drives, an additional 2 rear hot-swap OS drive
bays, dual gigabit NICs,
SATA II
controllers supporting RAID 0,1,5, 6 & 10, a remote RAID
management port and the massive Teralith can be supersized even more via an external SCSI port
for expansion in excess of 50TB through the addition of
up to three
XDAS scalable storage expansion boxes per SCSI channel,
thus creating a
scalable iSCSI NAS server.
The custom configurable "Teralith"
rackmount server is configured
with a triple redundant 1350W power supply and up
to 40GB of the new Fully Buffered DIMM memory (L2 2MB
Cache, 2x2MB). The Stirling X840 performs
with multiple OS platforms for full interoperability in
heterogeneous environments. Options
include the flexibility for; DVD-R or CD-RW,
and upgrades such as iSCSI, NAS and backup software.
