Aberdeen’s XDAS RAID series scalable DAS - direct attached storage
server specializes in the increasing storage
needs of fast-growing environments. As a perfect DAS solution for
storage hungry applications, streaming media, and companies using
high data transfer, the XDAS RAID series provides excellent
performance, high reliability, impressive scalability, greater
capacity and cost effective external RAID subsystem. When properly
configured, it can provide non-stop service with a high degree of
fault tolerance through the use of RAID technology and advanced
array management features. Our XDAS RAID system provides not only
RAID levels 0,1,3,5,0+1 & JBOD but also RAID 6. It can be managed
either through the LCD control panel, RS232 port or Ethernet port
(Web Browser-Based Management). It also contains STMP manager
monitors all system events and user can select either single or
multiple user notifications to be sent via ‘Plain English’
e-mails. The Aberdeen XDAS direct attached storage server is the first
iSCSI SAN-ready storage array specifically designed for scalable
expansion, ease of integration and improved performance without
the over inflated costs of implementing the other's direct attach
storage solutions.

What is a RAID 6?
|
 |
| |
- RAID 6 is a dual parity RAID scheme offers data protection. RAID
6, also know as ADG is an extension of RAID 5 array with a second independent distributed
parity scheme. Data and parity are striped on a block level across
multiple array members and a send set of parity is calculated and
written across all drives.

| |
Key Points of
RAID 6 |
| |
- Allows for two simultaneous drive failures without downtime or
data loss
- Higher fault tolerance than RAID 1, 3 or 5.
- Ideal for applications requiring large logical drives
- Lower implementation cost than Mirroring.
