ABERDEEN JBOD-1003 - 3U 16TB JBOD SAS EXPANSION
 
Overview
This exciting new product allows for fast and easy JBOD expansion to the new line of Aberdeen Storage Servers with SAS Expansion.  Storage servers with external either one or two external SAS ports may connect to these JBOD at a substantially lower cost than purchasing a new server.  Each external SAS port can connect one of these JBOD and then each JBOD can connect to another JBOD.  The maximum supported number of JBOD in any daisy chain is four.   In practice, the 3U X315 and X319, the 4U X419 and the 5U X527 each have a single compatible SAS port.   Therefore up to four JBOD may be attached.  The 6U X634 and 8U X841 each have dual compatible SAS ports and may actually add up to eight more JBOD!

High Performance and Scalability
Aberdeen storage servers and JBOD enclosures provide a scalable solution to manage growing storage needs via efficient expansion. The maximum performance per host connection is 1,200MB/sec, which is higher than a single 4G or even 10G Fibre Channel connection. The performance of the bus is achieved by combination of four SAS channels with each supporting 3Gbps full duplex speed. Together with the high-speed SAS RAID controller card in the storage server, the storage enclosure provides not only capacity but unprecedented performance.

16TB or 32TB RAID Volume Support
External SAS expansion ports on the compatible storage servers are fully capable of controlling four 16TB RAID arrays in a JBOD daisy chain.  Also two JBOD may be used together to create a single 32TB RAID array!  And of course 2 more may be daisy chained on these for another 32TB array.

Easy Maintenance and Management
All Aberdeen XDAS and JBOD solutions have a similar modular design.  Components like fans, power supplies and I/O modules have easy swap features with convenient thumb screws.  The JBOD supports in-band SES (SCSI Enclosure Service) with embedded SEP for error and status reporting. Each drive has activity and failure LEDs to indicate the drive status. Firmware can be upgraded through in-band SAS ports or serial port.
